Muller Fres Luneville Art Deco Lamp
Émile Gallé - French - His career took off after his work received praise at the Paris Exhibition of 1878.
The Muller family was composed of nine brothers and one sister. Native from the East of France, six of the Muller brothers worked as
decorators and etchers in the EMILE GALLE studios at Nancy where they acquired an excellent know-how.
In 1895, The Muller brothers founded their own factory at LUNEVILLE. They produced many cameo and blown/pressed glasswares, among
other things... Most of the glass produced at Luneville was signed "Muller Fres Luneville," although it was sometimes signed
"Muller Fr6res Luneville," "Muller," or "Luneville."
During the first World War the Muller Frères glassworks closed its doors and the family members spread out over France, working for different glassworks.
After the war the Mullers bought the factory "Hinzelin" in Lunéville and started commercial production of chandaliers and wallbrackets. During this time they designed a typical art deco
line,
where decorations of animals and landscapes
were striking beautiful.
After the crash on the New York Stock Exchange in America, business went down for the Muller Frères and in 1936 they definitively closed their glassworks.
